Review of the Pride Go-Go Three Wheel Elite Traveller (SC40E)

There are 85 owner reviews on the Pride Go-Go Three Wheel Elite Traveller Scooter. Overall, owners rate this scooter as a 4.75/5.

Most owners are very pleased with this mobility scooter. A small sampling of the comments is “love it “, “exceeded expectations”, “outstanding product for the price.”, “excellent range and is easy to use”, and “I am sorry I waited so long to get one”.

Many owners say that this scooter has changed their lives, allowing them to do things they hadn’t been able to do in a long while. One owner can now “scoot” next to her new grandsons carriage, while another feels like he has his mobility back and can now join his family on outings and go to his grandchildren’s’ baseball games.

They feel as if they’ve been given their lives back. One says it “allows me to go distances with my wife. I can again share these outings with her!“ This scooter has given another owner peace of mind as she says “I don’t have to worry about my husband with his heart condition pushing me around”.

Several owners use their mobility scooters for work. One says “Having the chair saved me from having to quit my job”. One owner reports, “At work I use the scooter to come and go from the parking lot to my building and between buildings. Some buildings, like the Dept. of Agriculture in DC, have corridors two blocks long. The scooter has enabled me to use the train and Metro when stations are accessible to my workplace. I am able to take the dog on long walks, go to museums and concerts, go places with my daughters and grandchildren.”

Buy from Amazon

The two most touching stories were the following:

From one owner, “I can “walk” my dog again! Yippee. Have taught her to heel with the Go-Go just as she used to heel beside me”,

And from another who says it all, “Having this scooter is opening the world to me once again. I had just quit going certain places and doing certain things because of my disabilities. Now I have a new hope. It is wonderful to get around so easily once again! Last Friday, we spent the day at the zoo with our 5 year old granddaughter! What a joy! I feel a newfound freedom! With a conventional wheelchair, I was dependent on others to transport me. With my scooter, I have regained some precious independence and dignity”.

Power Source

Batteries: 2 x Deep cycle 12 AH AGM (or optional 18 AH battery pack)
Charger: Offboard

Owners say that batteries are expensive to replace, and a little heavier than expected.

Speed

4.25 miles per hour per manufacturer’s specifications. Owners like the fast speed, with one saying “It goes faster than I expected!, and another saying, “this scooter is a fast little thing”.

Length of Charge

Range up to 10 miles….or 14 with optional 18 AH Battery pack.

Owners are amazed at how long the battery charge lasts on this scooter for seniors. One owner said, “I got 8+ hours on my first battery charge and it had not even gotten down into the upper limits of the green (fully charged) indicator. Wow”. Another said, “The batteries, although left unattended for months at a time charge right away and have good strength”.

Most owners said the battery is easy to charge, with the exception of one owner who had difficulty bending over to plug it in.

Adjustability and Functionality

There aren’t any adjustable features on this mobility scooter but owners don’t seem to mind.

They say this mobility scooter runs well and is easy to manoeuvre, is quick to assemble, and easy to transport. A number of owners also commented on how durable and how stable this mobility scooter is.

One owner says it all, ““just love the power it has and the battery just lasts and lasts. My Go Go turns on a dime and gives nine cents change. I now can go to the mall, and to car shows, flea markets, and much more with confidence that I’m not going to get stranded, and most of all I don’t have that feeling of guilt when my wife or grandson unload and assemble my Go Go because the assembly units are so light and it assembles so fast and easy. Also I can’t believe how comfortable the seat and leg room is for such a compact but sturdy scooter”.

Many owners spoke of how easy this mobility scooter is to disassemble quickly and take along in the trunk of even a small car like a Toyota Echo. They say this scooter for seniors is light and most are able to disassemble it and place it in the car by themselves.

Buy from Amazon

This truly is a travel scooter. One owner says, “I like the fact that I can take it in the trunk of my car or take it with me on an airplane”. Other owners also spoke of taking their scooters on planes with one saying that it was light enough to travel on airplanes, and another calling it “the easiest way to get though airports, especially when connections between flights are made in limited time”. He also says this scooter fits in the under bus luggage compartment on full size tour buses. Yet another owner took his Go-Go Elite on a cruise ship where he says, “the scooter is a hit” and he is recommending it to others.

One note of caution: One owner made the mistake of running his battery completely down before re-charging it the first time, thinking that doing so would not create a bad ‘memory’ and allow it to fully charge better, however he ruined his battery that way. It wouldn’t charge again as it is intended to be plugged in whenever it is not in use.

And another caution: Watch the traction “if front tire is wet and you enter a room that has anything except rugs you will slide”, and “the hard-rubber tires do not perform well on grassy slopes or loose gravel”. Also, one owner says, “In thick grass, it tends to be unstable.”

One owner of the 85 who gave reviews had electrical problems with his scooter. He described it as, “The scooter from the beginning, would surge, stop only after a few feet, may or may not start again after turning the key on and off. Maybe run for ten minutes and then just quit. It would quit if going over a small bump. Sometimes not start at all for a day or two“. He says his neighbour has the same scooter and the same problem, and said it frequently left him stranded in the middle of a corridor when he took it with him on a cruise ship.

Though not weaknesses in the scooter, owners do have a few things they would have liked to have seen on this scooter. A number expressed a desire for a rear view mirror, a headlight, a cane holder and a larger basket. One taller owner said he would have liked a bit more leg room, but that it was not a major concern.

Buy from Amazon

Summary

Owners rate the Pride Go-Go Three Wheel Elite Traveller scooter very highly, giving it a 4.75 out of 5. For some this was the second purchase of this same model. They especially like the light weight and easy portability of this mobility scooter, as well as the power and the manoeuvrability. This truly is a travel scooter and can be taken on planes, bus tours, or absolutely anywhere one might want to go. It is also extremely manoeuvrable and useful indoors in a home.

A number of owners, who have used other models in the past, say that this is the best mobility scooter they have driven. One gentleman who travels s extensively says he “finds this to be the best product on the market for me. Recommend highly without reservation!”

This scooter would seem to be amongst the very best for versatility in meeting owners’ needs and performing to a level that exceeds their expectations. The Pride Go-Go Three Wheel Elite Traveller scooter got the top rating of all the scooters we reviewed and we would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Review of the Shoprider Sunrunner 3 Wheel Scooter, Blue (888B-3BLUE)

Owners of the Shoprider Sunrunner 3 Wheel Scooter are very pleased with it. Comments were “I love my scooter”, “good value “, and “top of line and a GREAT price!”. One owner purchased this one to replace the same model that she’d had for 7 years. Another owner said it was the second one she’d purchased in 6 years and, ” I have nothing but the biggest praise for it.”. Yet another owner called it “a top quality scooter” and said “I am very happy with the way it performs and would recommend it to anyone that needs a scooter”.

Power Source

Batteries: 12V33-38Ah x 2 12 Volts
Charger: Off board (3A) battery charger

Speed

Maximum 5 miles per hour per manufacturer’s specifications. Owners describe it as fast.

Length of Charge

25 mile battery capacity per manufacturer’s specifications. Owners report that the battery charges quickly. One owner uses her scooter every day for work and does 10-15 miles per day on it. She reports “good battery life and reasonable charge rate”.

Adjustability and Functionality

This mobility scooter has a good number of adjustable features. The deluxe captain’s seat is slidable forwards or backwards and it swivels. The arm rests are also adjustable and flip back. As well, there is plenty of leg room. Owners say that this scooter is comfortable and easy to manoeuvre.

This scooter for seniors comes completely assembled. It does disassemble to 4 parts for transport in a car trunk, and one owner reports that it is easy to transport.

Owners like the speed control, the stability, and the brakes. One owner said, “The two things that I like most are the dynamic brakes and the speed control”, while another person said her mother “loves the color and the power”. Another owner reported “I drive about 2500 Miles a year on it, on usually VERY rough sidewalks & rough roads. The stability is perfect, I can’t think of anything that could improve it…..except I would like it to go 20MPH instead of the 6MPH….but that’s illegal”.

This mobility scooter seems to hold up very well over time. Several owners report having had theirs for 6 or 7 years before having to get another and one owner says hers is an older model that has “held up remarkably well”.

Buy from Amazon

Summary

Unlike the Shoprider Sunrunner 4 Wheel Scooter, which is heavier and can’t be disassembled for transport, the Shoprider Sunrunner 3 Wheel Scooter, though not a lightweight, can be disassembled into 4 parts, making this the ideal cross between a road-worthy scooter and travel scooter.

Owners of this mobility scooter have put it through some pretty heavy use, with one using it for work and driving 10-15 miles per day, and another putting on about 2500 miles a year on it on very rough sidewalks and rough roads. In spite of that kind of usage, these scooters seem to hold up for about 6 or 7 years. Owners love the comfort and stability, the easy manoeuvrability, the dynamic brake system, the power, and the long battery charge that this scooter holds. Two owners said they wouldn’t have much of a life without it. We would highly recommend the Shoprider Sunrunner 3 Wheel Scooter for its versatility of performance, both indoors and on the road, its durability, and the high level of mobility and satisfaction that it gives to owners. A blinkers and hazard lights kit is an available option for those who choose to use this scooter on the roads.
