One purchaser bought this scooter for her father to use in an assisted living place and says that he loves it and would not be able to get to the dining room without it. An owner describes it as having all the functionality of a much larger, more expensive scooter, and yet another says it meets all of her needs better than any electric wheelchair or scooter she has found. One owner sums it up by saying, “for the money, it would be difficult to beat this zippy, portable, life giving, joy returning, fun to drive little scooter:.

Speed

The maximum speed on this scooter is 3.8 miles per hour. Most owners would prefer to go a little faster, but as one owner put it,  then again how fast do you need it to go”. Though one owner described it as “gutless”, others said it was “adequately fast”, and “has plenty of guts and speed if you’re on flat ground.” Some owners report that it does have issues on hills or inclines, though one owner says, “it has enough power to climb slopes I have encountered“.

Length of Charge

The range of charge 7.5 miles, according to the manufacturer’s specifications. One owner reported having problems with getting her scooter’s batteries to charge fully.  Others say it has a long battery life and a sleep function to conserve battery power.

Adjustability and Functionality

This mobility scooter doesn’t have a lot of adjustable features but it does have a tiller adjustment knob. One person says that although she was worried that this might be too large for her 4’6” mother, “it adjusts with easy turn knobs”.  An owner reported “the tiller steering and paddle accelerator are easier for me to use than a joystick”. A number of owners commented that the seat is comfortable, with one owner adding “thanks to the arm rests and pivot features”.

This scooter comes assembled. Owners report that this scooter is very easy to transport and fits into a small trunk. One owner has had her Dasher 3 for more than 2 years. She says “it comes part and goes back together in under one minute”.  Another owner says it “is very easy for a single person to handle. It comes apart easily and the pieces are not heavy at all”, while another says “as a 50 year old woman I can totally handle it alone”.

Owners find the Dasher 3 very easy to operate and say the turning radius is very precise. They say it does well in tight quarters and is very responsive. Owners report that this scooter does have some issues on slopes. One said he “tried to take it up a slight slop in our driveway and it couldn’t make it”, and another said “it barely makes it up any kind of hill or incline”.  Another owner says, “it’s good for parks, fairs, and flea markets, and only on flat ground”.

Summary

Owners like that the Shoprider Dasher 3 is stylish and sturdy and doesn’t look like something an older person would drive. They are pleased with the easy portability, easy operation, and precise turning radius. One owner reported “I use it at home and in the garden as well as when I am going somewhere that involves a lot of walking”. Another owner found comfort in having the scooter in the trunk of her car at all times so she didn’t have to worry if she started to fade, or had to do a lot of walking. She liked knowing that she could just open the trunk, grab the scooter and go anywhere. She referred to that as “Such freedom”.

This would appear to be an ideal and economical mobility scooter for shopping, short outings, or around the house. Owners find it very portable and easily manoeuvrable. In hilly terrain, a stronger model would be needed but for most people’s day to day needs, this one does the job and owners enjoy driving it. They also enjoy the renewed sense of freedom that it gives.  For anyone who intends to use a mobility scooter mostly on flat surfaces, the Shoprider Dasher 3 rates high in owner satisfaction and is recommended.
